The USDA Insectary Lab in Ft. Lauderdale, FL was experiencing problems losing research specimen through the HVAC return duct system in their general and max quarantine study areas. They were also losing specimen through the sump fed by the floor drains. Peachtree mechanical designed and built a filter housing system that safely removed the specimen from the return air. To correct the sump problem, Peachtree designed and built a system where the sump was heated to 180 degrees to exterminate any specimens that had been washed through the floor drains and into the sump. These two systems greatly reduced the number of specimen the lab lost.
